Allummina

No sooner had Vesali arrived in the Warren than he was being directed to a den entrance. He felt the stone structure close in around him. The walls were steadfast and silent, so old that even his heightened senses could not "see" their colour. The roots of this cavern ran deep into the world. He could swear he even hear the faint beat of Tris'Hath's pulse, but he could not stop to make sure.

A warm hand closed over his, directing him in a straight line. He could have found the way with his cane, but there was urgency in this person's pull. He didn't even know their name.

And then the person had let go, leaving Vesali to stumble blindly onwards. His cane thumped twice against the hard, rock floor, then hit something softer. A frown creased his pale face and an inquizitive hand outstretched towards the unknown object. It shifted its weight and let out a breathy snort. The warm, scented air puffed against his bare head and ran down his neck like hot coals.

"I'll leave you two alone." It was the dragon rider that spoke. The one that had brought him here. Vesali knew him as Tenobi, but here he was T'bi. Once a fellow monk in training, now a full fledged dragon rider. When Vesali had felt the stirrin in his own soul, Tenobi was the only one he felt comfortable contacting. Now he knew he had made the right decision.

Vesali put down his cane slowly, listening to it clack and roll away on the bare floor. It stopped abruptly against a claw sketching its way along the same floor.

"So here you are." Vesali murmured in his quiet way, raising both hands in the air like a child wanting to be picked up. A small, scaled muzzle pressed under his fingertips.

The dragon made no sound. The monk smiled.

"You're broken just like me, hmm?" He inquired chipperly. "But don't worry. We can fix each other. My name is Vesali. I came here just for you."

Allummina.

The silence of the cavern had not been broken since Vesali had stopped speaking. The name he heard was not out loud, but just a sensation in his mind. Vesali patted the dragon's slender shoulder.

"Allummina. A beautiful name for a beautiful dragoness. Tell me your story, Allummina."

They sat in silence for many hours afterwards. When all the things they could say had been said, they slept. Tomorrow would be a big day for both of them.
